Walker & Company's History

Walker & Company was founded in 1974 to serve the construction needs of a growing Florida. Since that time we have charted a course of balanced growth in order to stay abreast of Florida’s dynamic economic climate. Accordingly, we have assembled a team of construction professionals who are dedicated to the old fashioned belief that a top-quality service requires hard work and dedication to our clients.

Today, Walker & Company is one of the top construction companies in Florida. Our projects are some of the most familiar buildings in Central Florida and across the state. We have received many awards in every sector of the construction industry. However, the award we seek most enthusiastically is the repeat business of a satisfied customer.

Lance Walker Sr.
Founder/Partner
R. Lance Walker, Sr. graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Building Construction in 1968 and a Master of Science in Building Construction in 1969.

R. Lance Walker, Sr. graduated from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Building Construction in 1968 and a Master of Science in Building Construction in 1969.

In 2010 Lance was inducted into the University of Florida’s M.E. Rinker School of Building Construction, BCN Construction Hall of Fame.

In 1974, with partner Joe Fisher, he purchased the Construction Division of an integrated Builder/Developer, Condev and started Walker & Company, Inc. During the past 50 years Lance has guided the company along a successful path of strategic, controlled growth and servicing clients at the highest level.

Within his community of Central Florida Lance has served as a trustee of the WMFE TV and Radio Station (PBS), Trustee of the Orlando Museum of Art, Vice President Winter Park Chamber Government Affairs, Director of Winter Park National Bank, Independent Community banks, C & S National Bank and Interlachen Country Club, Chairman of the City of Winter Park Code Enforcement board and member of the Florida Bar Grievance Committee.

Lance Walker, Jr. is President and partner of Walker & Company, Inc. As the second generation leader of Walker & Company, Lance grew up working for the company and has worked in almost every position at the firm.

Lance Walker, Jr. is President and partner of Walker & Company, Inc. As the second generation leader of Walker & Company, Lance grew up working for the company and has worked in almost every position at the firm.

A lifelong resident of Central Florida, Lance graduated from Winter Park High School then earned a Bachelor of Science in Building Construction from Auburn University in 1989. He is a licensed general contractor and a LEED AP.

Lance has been instrumental in building and carrying on the company’s philosophy for providing quality construction services, a high level of professionalism and conducting business with integrity. With more than 30 years of construction experience, Lance is committed to delivering a successful project experience from the earliest stages of their clients’ vision through the completion and occupancy of an exceptional building.

Lance is active in the community having served on the Board of numerous civic non profits and industry associations including the Winter Park Library, The Winter Park Chamber of Commerce, Heart of Florida United Way, Boy Scouts of America, Elevate Orlando, the Orlando Museum of Art, and the Central Florida Associated Builders and Contractors.

Alan joined the Walker Team in 1995 as a Project Manager. In 2007 he became Vice President and Partner with his role shifting to leading the Preconstruction / Estimating Team and providing support to Project Management.

Alan joined the Walker Team in 1995 as a Project Manager. In 2007 he became Vice President and Partner with his role shifting to leading the Preconstruction / Estimating Team and providing support to Project Management.

Alan is very hands-on and often becomes an integral part of many of our client’s development teams. He has extensive experience with multifamily, mixed use, senior housing, educational, healthcare, and all types of commercial construction.

He is a graduate of the University of Florida and has been Certified as a General Contractor in the State of Florida and Georgia and a LEED Accredited Professional.

Rick received his Bachelor’s Degree in Construction from the University of Florida in 1989 and joined Walker & Company in 1992.

During his 25+ year career with Walker & Company Rick has had the opportunity to work and gain valued experience in the field as assistant superintendent then spent several years as an estimator prior to becoming a project manager.

With over 20 years as a project manager Rick has successfully managed a wide range of projects that include office buildings, financial institutions, religious facilities, healthcare facilities, educational facilities and multifamily projects.

Rick’s longevity with the company coupled with his ability to manage difficult projects while exceeding owner expectations prepared Rick to become the Vice President of Operations in 2017.

Rick is passionate about helping the Walker TEAM build quality projects by ensuring that all projects have the support and oversite needed to be successful.
Scott McIntyre
Director Preconstruction
Scott is responsible for leading Walker’s preconstruction and estimating team with the capabilities of providing document reviews, conceptual and design budgets, value engineering, bidding and scheduling.

Scott has over 21 years of industry experience across many market sectors including multifamily, commercial, hotels, senior living, healthcare and education. Scott received his Bachelor of Science in Building Construction from the University of Florida and is a Certified Building Contractor in the State of Florida.
